Fellows Spotlight | Aaron Mang

The fellowship experience through Circle City Fellows gives Fellows a structured environment to learn about how their work is meaningful to the Mission of God and to the flourishing of the City of Indianapolis (and beyond). During nine months, Fellows create deep connections with their peers, focus on building spiritual and professional practices, and create tangible ways in which they can impact their place of work. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

Greensburg, IN

WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?

WHAT DO YOU DO/WHERE DO YOU WORK?

I am a 3rd year family medicine resident with Community East Hospital

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP EXPERIENCE WITH CCF?

I heard about CCF through Jim Seeds (CCF Board Chairman) who is in my church’s small group, but is also on the board of directors with CCF.

I DECIDED TO DO THE CCF FELLOWSHIP BECAUSE...

I felt it to be a great opportunity to deepen my relationship with Christ, and further find true significance and especially why my work is important in the eyes of God, all while in this unique transition period from education and residency into life after residency and my own outpatient practice.

CCF EXISTS TO HELP YOUNG PROFESSIONALS SEE HOW THEIR WORK MATTERS TO GOD AND HOW IT IS IMPORTANT TO HIS MISSION FOR THE WORLD. IS THIS SOMETHING YOUR FAMILY OR CHURCH TAUGHT YOU GROWING UP?

No - growing up, work was just work and something we have to do to survive and live. To hear work itself has intrinsic value and is part of God’s mission is exciting as it gives everyday a different meaning and perspective of significance that wasn't always clear before.

IN YOUR CURRENT WORK, (WHETHER THAT BE WORKING FULL TIME/PART TIME, GOING TO SCHOOL, OR RAISING CHILDREN) HOW DO YOU SEE THE MISSION OF GOD AT WORK?

I currently find it relatively easy to see the mission of God at work as I have the opportunity to be intricately involved in the lives of patients, families, support of health and wellness, and being present in moments of need and brokenness. I believe CCF will be helpful to take my understanding to a whole new level.

THE FELLOWSHIP CONSISTS OF READING ARTICLES, PARTICIPATING IN COHORT DISCUSSIONS, MONTHLY SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES, ATTENDING SATURDAY FORUMS THAT FOCUS ON THE CITY OF INDIANAPOLIS, AND A COUPLE OF PROJECTS THAT WILL GROW YOU IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIFE. WHICH OF THESE ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO AND WHY?

I am most looking forward to the cohort discussions as an opportunity to develop great relationships in which these conversations will help go to a deeper level of understanding of topics and readings, as well as the Saturday forums to think about and take next steps into where I can be more involved in the Indy community.

BY THE END OF THE FELLOWSHIP, I HOPE TO HAVE…

deepened my understanding of the significance of my work as it aligns with God's mission, as well as develop a strong sense of where I am to move and make changes for a better impact in my communities at work and where I live.
