Fellows Spotlight | Susanna Taft

The fellowship experience through Circle City Fellows gives Fellows a structured environment to learn about how their work is meaningful to the Mission of God and to the flourishing of the City of Indianapolis (and beyond). During nine months, Fellows create deep connections with their peers, focus on building spiritual and professional practices, and create tangible ways in which they can impact their place of work.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
Indianapolis

WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?

Indianapolis

WHAT DO YOU DO/WHERE DO YOU WORK?

Deputy Director of Develop Indy, the economic development organization for the City of Indianapolis

I DECIDED TO DO THE CCF FELLOWSHIP BECAUSE...

I’m looking forward to group discussion and reflection about culturally relevant issues in our faith and community.

IN YOUR CURRENT WORK (WORKING FULL TIME/PART TIME, GOING TO SCHOOL, AND/OR RAISING CHILDREN) HOW DO YOU SEE THE MISSION OF GOD AT WORK? IS IT EASY FOR YOU TO SEE? IS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO SEE?

Unfortunately, I witness many businesses perpetuate inequitable practices in real estate or employment activities in Indianapolis. However, many days I also see God show up in my work through conversations with business owners who want to positively impact our community through their investments and business decisions. The longer I’m in my role, the more I see every day how God is enabling leaders to change our city.

BY THE END OF THE FELLOWSHIP, I HOPE TO…

develop a stronger voice to articulate complex and difficult issues related to faith, theology, justice, and equity.
