Fellows Spotlight | Johanna Dix

The fellowship experience through Circle City Fellows gives Fellows a structured environment to learn about how their work is meaningful to the Mission of God and to the flourishing of the City of Indianapolis (and beyond). During nine months, Fellows create deep connections with their peers, focus on building spiritual and professional practices, and create tangible ways in which they can impact their place of work.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
Born in Colorado, early childhood in Romania, middle childhood in Southside Indianapolis, high school in Franklin, college in Indianapolis... so, I'm a Hoosier with global roots.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?

Speedway, IN

WHAT DO YOU DO/WHERE DO YOU WORK?

I am an occupational therapist at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. For the last several years, I have split my time between providing rehabilitative services in our neuro specialty services clinic and running our Seating and Positioning/Wheelchair Clinic. I recently transitioned to focusing on Wheelchair Clinic only, and the rest of my time is spent in Human Resources/Talent Development with a very special 2 year old (my current job description as a stay at home parent).

I DECIDED TO DO THE CCF FELLOWSHIP BECAUSE...

I am looking for discipleship and discernment in community. As I enter into another transition period of life, I would like to enter with intentionality and am looking forward to personal, spiritual, mental, emotional, and vocational growth.

IN YOUR CURRENT WORK (WORKING FULL TIME/PART TIME, GOING TO SCHOOL, AND/OR RAISING CHILDREN) HOW DO YOU SEE THE MISSION OF GOD AT WORK? IS IT EASY FOR YOU TO SEE? IS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO SEE?

I am surrounded by the Kingdom, both at work and at home. My work in healthcare places me in the midst of the mess of the real life of our fellow neighbors, and I have the privilege of bringing order, freedom, and independence to those who are poor, brokenhearted, captive, and in darkness. My work at home places me closer to the heart of God than I have ever experienced - time with Eleanor is the most deeply spiritual experience. I will say the transition to spending the majority of my time in home management v outside work has been a much more challenging and disorienting transition than I anticipated, and I hope to gain more clarity through my time in CCF.

BY THE END OF THE FELLOWSHIP, I HOPE TO HAVEā€¦

become more myself, and to see the face of God more clearly than ever before.
